Michael “Mike” Wiechart
Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer for Capella, Mike leads all of Capella’s operations, including hospital operations, quality improvement, supply chain, revenue cycle, managed care operations, and labor productivity initiatives. He is also involved in merger and acquisition activities.
Prior to joining Capella in 2009, Mike was affiliated for 10 years with LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. As Senior Vice President & Group President, he led two operating divisions totaling 24 hospitals. A founding employee, Mike began his tenure with LifePoint as a Division CFO during which he was responsible for the integration of 10 newly acquired facilities as well as a whole-hospital joint venture with physicians.
His career in healthcare began in 1989 with the role of Controller for a public hospital in Statesville, North Carolina. Later, he served as CFO at various facilities for HCA, which culminated in his being named CFO for the Chattanooga Market and then for the company’s Cumberland Division. In 1998, Mike became Vice President of Operations for Province Healthcare, where he oversaw financial operations for 11 hospitals before moving to LifePoint in 1999.
Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). He has also earned a Lean Healthcare certificate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. His civic activities have included serving on the Boards for Big Brother Big Sister organizations in two states as well as volunteering with the United Way. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Williamson County. Mike and his wife, Lisa, have two daughters.
